Creative Collage & Zine Workshop at The Hub

Join us for a Zine & Collage Night at the Hub!
Led by our awesome summer interns, Asheton and Michelle, this free community workshop is all about getting creative, making connections, and having fun with art. Never made a zine before? No problem! Zines are handmade mini-magazines—totally DIY, totally unique, and a perfect way to express yourself through words, images, and collage.

Got some old magazines you want to get rid of? Drop them off and give them a second life by turning them into art! We’ll have some supplies on hand, but feel free to bring your own paper scraps, old magazines, stickers, or any materials you’d love to transform into something original. Come cut, paste, and create with us—no experience needed, just your imagination!

Location: King George Hub (plaza in front of Save On Foods)
Address: 13639 George Junction, Surrey, BC
Cost: Free, register on Eventbrite! (some drop-in spots will be available depending on how many materials are left)

Surrey Voices: Rhythms of Brazil

Get ready to feel the beat and celebrate the vibrant sounds of Brazil at Surrey Voices: Rhythms of Brazil—a free, interactive event that brings the community together through music, culture, and joyful expression!

Led by the talented Daniella Gramani, this hands-on workshop invites participants to explore the basics of the pandeiro, a traditional Brazilian percussion instrument. You’ll not only learn new rhythms but also come together to learn a popular Brazilian song in a fun, relaxed setting.

The celebration doesn’t stop there! After the workshop, the incredible Sara Magal, Brazilian singer and songwriter, will take the stage for a live performance filled with infectious energy and soulful Brazilian favourites. Best of all, workshop participants will get the chance to join Sara on stage and perform the song they’ve just learned—turning the whole plaza into a living celebration of rhythm and culture.

Whether you’re brand new to Brazilian music or already have a little samba in your step, this event welcomes all ages (10+) to connect, create, and move to the music.

Location: Surrey Civic Plaza
Address: 13450 104 Ave, Surrey BC
Cost: Free event | Limited spots for the workshop – first come, first served! (Ages 10+)
